Annual Social Regeneration Conference

The Project
First undertaken in 2003, The Docklands Social Regeneration Conference has become an annual opportunity for local community groups and organisations to voice their opinions and offer suggestions relating to the work of the Docklands Authority.

It also allows the Docklands Authority to update the groups and organisations on its work within its Social Regeneration brief.

How it Works
A full two day programme is developed, featuring presentations by leading international experts in fields such as active citizenship, housing, education, policing and art in the community. Interactive workshops are an important element of the agenda.

Led by Community Leaders these focus on areas such as ‘Active Citizenship in Docklands’; ‘Youth, Policing and Parenting’ and ‘Housing in Docklands’.

After the conference each year, a report is published to ensure that all the ideas, comments and issues raised over the two days are captured and acted upon.

The Right Result
The Social Regeneration Conference has become established as an important annual forum for the local community to participate in discussion and debates on all issues relevant to the Docklands. Over 140 delegates attended the 4th Social Regeneration Conference on the subject of ‘Active Citizenship in Docklands’ and availed of the opportunity to input into the work the Docklands Authority is undertaking in their communities.
