HSBC SOS Kit Aid Collection

As Principal Partner to the 2009 British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa, HSBC asks you to donate any old rugby boots, shorts, t-shirts, tracksuits etc. which will then be taken out to South Africa and distributed to children around the country enabling them to play rugby.

SOS Kit Aid is an initiative that gives less advantaged children around the world the chance to play rugby through the collection and distribution of unused/unwanted rugby kit.

A Kit Aid donation point will be set up from Tuesday, 24th until 31st March in the ground floor reception area in HSBC's 1 Grand Canal Square office.

So please ask your friends and neighbours to collect any old rugby gear and bring it in!

The Lions is a unique concept in world sport: a team which draws together the cream of English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh rugby talent into one ferocious unit, dispatched only once every four years to the southern hemisphere. The last two tours have visited New Zealand (2005) and Australia (2001).

The 2009 tour is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and entertaining in the Lions' 100 year history. It will certainly be among the most evocative, with the Lions facing the reigning world champion Springboks on home soil, just as in 1997 when the Lions defined their underdog status and came away 2-1 series winners.

HSBC ambassador Jason Robinson kick-started the kit collection scheme back in November when he was joined at Pimlico Academy in London by South African rugby player Bryan Habana.

40 schools in the UK & Ireland are acting as "kit collection bases" too - some of you may have children, relations, neighbours or friends attending the Irish schools involved - so make sure to remind them to donate their unwanted rugby gear!
